Gerloff Earns Season-Best Finish at Misano

Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) delivered his strongest performance of the season so far at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli,” scoring valuable points in both Sunday WorldSBK races and achieving his best race result since joining Kawasaki.

In the ten-lap Superpole Race, Gerloff fought his way to 11th place after starting 14th on the grid. Despite targeting a top-ten finish, he was overtaken in the closing laps and unable to improve his starting position for the final race of the weekend.

Race Two saw the American rider make the most of his Ninja ZX-10RR, launching from the fifth row and navigating searing 32°C heat to finish a strong eighth. The result marked a personal best for Gerloff this season, improving on his previous top result by two positions.

The Misano round was especially meaningful as a home event for his Italian-based team, and Gerloff made the most of the opportunity by scoring points in both full-distance races.

With his efforts, Gerloff now sits 17th in the overall championship standings with 40 points.

The next round of the FIM Superbike World Championship takes place at Donington Park, UK, from July 11–13 — the same venue where WorldSBK first debuted as a standalone championship in 1988.

Garrett Gerloff:
“Today ended up not so bad. I was a bit frustrated after the Superpole Race — I was in eighth place, just trying to hold on to the top nine to secure a better starting spot for Race Two, but it didn’t work out. We didn’t get the best start in Race Two, but the pace was good. I felt better and better with each lap as the fuel load came down. I managed to finish inside the top ten, and it felt good to finally see a single-digit result next to my name. We’ve made progress, and I’m hopeful we can keep building on this momentum at Donington.”
