Alcoba Equals Season-Best with Top-Five Finish at Misano
Kawasaki WorldSSP Team rider Jeremy Alcoba delivered a standout performance at Round 6 of the FIM Supersport World Championship, securing fifth place in Race Two at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” — equaling his best finish of the season.
Starting from 14th on the grid, Alcoba quickly found his rhythm aboard the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636. His early pace and consistency allowed him to carve through the field and even bridge the gap between two separate rider groups, showcasing strong form throughout.
The race was red-flagged with five laps remaining due to a crash that required medical attention trackside. Results were declared based on standings at the end of lap 13, by which point Alcoba had climbed to fifth place after a determined charge from the fifth row.
Although he finished just over five seconds behind the race winner, Alcoba held a solid 1.4-second gap over the rider behind him — further evidence of his growing pace and confidence.
Following his Misano result, Alcoba now sits ninth in the championship standings with 88 points.
The championship continues with Round 7 at Donington Park, UK, from July 11–13.
Jeremy Alcoba:
“Fifth place was a really strong result for us. I think we did a great job on Saturday that helped us improve today. It’s true there were several crashes at the front, but we didn’t lose time to the lead group — we just missed the gap at the start. I had a good launch and felt strong on the first lap, but I struggled a bit to stop the bike with a full fuel tank. Once the tyre started to drop and the fuel load came down, I found my rhythm, just like yesterday. At the red flag, we were in P5, and although it wasn’t easy to catch the front group, I was able to defend the position well. We’re definitely getting closer to the front. I felt great on the bike this weekend, and I’m happy with the work the team has done. The pace is there, and we’ll keep pushing for more at the next races.”
