Valin Shows Speed and Composure with Season-Best Moto Finish in Latvia

Kawasaki Racing Team MX2’s Mathis Valin delivered his best moto result since the season opener with an impressive fourth-place finish in the first moto at the Kegums round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship in Latvia.

The French teenager displayed lightning-fast reflexes out of the gate, powering down the 95-meter start straight to slot into fourth by turn one. Despite the demanding track conditions caused by heavy overnight rain, Valin demonstrated maturity beyond his years, avoiding mistakes and maintaining a consistent pace to hold fourth throughout the race, finishing well ahead of the chasing pack.

A more difficult start in the second moto saw him squeezed off the line and sitting thirteenth at the first split. Undeterred, Valin carved his way through the pack with impressive racecraft, even battling with the reigning world champion during his charge. His persistence paid off as he moved into tenth with three laps to go, securing seventh overall on the day.

Now sixteenth in the championship standings, Valin continues to build momentum as he rebounds from injury earlier in the season.

Mathis Valin:
"My start in the first moto was really good—these days, that makes such a big difference. I found a solid rhythm behind Everts and kept pushing to stay in fourth. The second start wasn’t as strong, but I pushed hard and even passed Adamo at one point, which shows I’m making progress. I’m still missing some race time and experience because of the injury, but I’m improving every week and my speed is coming back. I learned a lot this weekend, and we’ll keep working over the next two weeks to be ready for Matterley."
