Race Two Wrapped-Up For Öncü
Can Öncü finished off his Motorland Aragon FIM Supersport World Championship race weekend with another gritty ride to the checkered flag as he continues his comeback from a left arm injury suffered at the Assen round in April.
Can placed 17th in the second race, which was red flagged to a halt with one lap to go, after an accident that left a fallen rider in a dangerous position by the side of the active track surface. The race was thus ended after 14 laps and not the planned 15, but with full points awarded.
Can is now 14th in the championship table, with two rounds still to run in the 2023 season.
The next race action in the WorldSSP championship will be held next weekend, at the Circuito Internacional do Algarve in Portugal, between 29 September and 1 October.
Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) no-scored for the second time at his home event, falling in Race Two and being unable to restart. He is now 12th in the championship table but has the same total of 111 points as the rider officially ranked in 11th place.
Tom Booth-Amos (Motozoo ME AIR Racing Kawasaki) was 11th in the full WorldSSP Race rankings in Race Two and was again the winner of the WorldSSP Challenge race-within-a-race. The WorldSSP Challenge is parallel series to the full championship, designed for riders who only race at the European rounds.
Luke Power (Motozoo ME AIR Racing Kawasaki) was 21st and Yuta Okaya (Prodina Kawasaki Racing) 24th in the final Motorland race of the weekend. Leonardo Taccini (Vince64 by Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) was 25th in the second race.
