MONSTER ENERGY® KAWASAKI RIDER JASON ANDERSON SECURES ANOTHER ANAHEIM PODIUM FINISH

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (January 26, 2025) - Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Jason Anderson took home another hard-earned third-place podium in the 450SX Main Event after winning 450SX Heat 2 at Angel Stadium, for Round 3 of the Monster Energy® AMA Supercross Championship. Talented Monster Energy® Kawasaki Team Green graduate, Drew Adams, made his highly anticipated debut in the 250SX Class aboard the Monster Energy® Pro Circuit Kawasaki race team’s KX250. Adams battled hard against the stacked class as the rain fell to take home eighth place in the Western Regional 250SX Class Main Event.

In the 450SX Class, the No. 21 of Anderson entered the weekend feeling healthy and ready to bounce back, securing fifth overall in qualifying. At the start of the 450SX Heat 2, Anderson accelerated quickly out of the gate to the first corner and claimed the holeshot. He wasted no time grabbing an early lead and despite being pressured from behind he held strong and secured his first Heat Race victory of the season. In the 450SX Main Event, rain from earlier in the night created slick track conditions for the riders. Anderson did not let that affect him as he charged to the front from the far outside gate, flying by two riders in the whoops section to move himself into second place aboard his KX450SR. He then adjusted his sights to the leader where he would charge to the inside on Lap 6 and take over first place. Anderson was able to hold onto the lead for eight laps until a few late-race passes pushed him back to third place. He was able to fend off the field behind him and take home a hard-fought third-place podium finish for the second time this season.

Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Jorge Prado was forced to sit out Anaheim 2 after a crash during qualifying led to a dislocated shoulder. He hopes to be back soon after taking some time to rest and assess his shoulder.

In the 250SX Class, Drew Adams kicked off his long-awaited debut with a strong start, qualifying eighth overall. In Heat 1, Adams jumped out of the gate in seventh place and worked his way up through the field, leading to a fifth-place finish and putting himself in a favorable position with the ninth gate pick for his first 250SX Main Event. The No. 98 of Adams came out of the gate mid-pack and swiftly maneuvered his way around the competition into sixth place aboard his KX250. Adams quickly found his pace against the field and settled into the race. Mid-way through the Main Event, rain began to fall creating a slippery surface on the technical track. Adams would finish the night with a solid eighth-place finish in his first race and looks to build upon this result.

Monster Energy® Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Garrett Marchbanks sat out A2 following a crash in practice earlier in the week.

“Overall I had a good day. I qualified fifth and won my heat race. I got a great start off the gate in the main event and was battling up front all night. The rain made the track super slick, but I knew I was really good in the whoops so I could charge hard and make up time there. It felt good to run in first for a while. My illness from last week was still lingering but I was happy to maintain my strength for most of the main, lead some laps, and take a step in the right direction. Being on the podium is always a great feeling and I look to continue to stay up there.”

“I overjumped the quad a little bit in qualifying and went into the berm. I tried to grab the net on the edge of the berm because I didn't have anywhere else to go, and as soon as I grabbed it I felt my shoulder pop out. It's a shame because it was not a big crash just a little mistake on my part, but I couldn't avoid it. My shoulder was popped back into place 30 seconds later and it’s feeling good now, not very painful. I need to sit out and rest and see how my shoulder feels after today and evaluate from there.”

“It all went well today. I had good practice and qualifying sessions. The heat race was solid, I went P5 there. Then leading up to the main event I got a little nervous and the jitters were getting to me since it was my first race. All and all it was good, I had a pretty good start but halfway through the main event, it started raining and the track was getting super slippery and technical. I had a pretty good pace for 10 minutes or so, but with the slick track I fell off a little bit towards the end. At the end of the day I'm glad that I finished where I did, and I'm glad that we're staying safe. I learned a lot and will come out stronger next week.”
