Romain Febvre Dominates the Sand of Riola Sardo for Victory at MXGP of Sardinia
Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre delivered a commanding performance at Round 4 of the 2025 FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship, claiming overall victory in the demanding sand of Riola Sardo, Sardinia.
The Frenchman signaled his intent early, clocking the fastest time in morning Warm-up to put Saturday’s qualifying frustration behind him. Despite starting from an outside gate position in both motos due to a tough Qualifying, Febvre made the most of his KX™450-SR’s traction, launching into the top six off the start each time.
In the first moto, he dropped a few spots early while navigating through traffic but quickly found his rhythm. By lap eleven, a clean pass on the championship leader moved him into fourth. A string of fast laps followed as he closed in on the front runners, ultimately running out of time to challenge for a podium spot.
Race two was a different story. Febvre surged into third on the opening lap and, showing patience and precision, executed two brilliant passes by lap seven to take the lead. From there, he maintained a steady, confident pace to secure his 22nd career Grand Prix overall win and 50th GP moto win—a major milestone in his stellar career. This marks his third podium in four rounds and further solidifies his position in second overall in the championship standings.
Romain Febvre:
"This was a very emotional win. We had some issues in Qualifying, but I regrouped and felt strong today. Starting from 20th on the gate, I managed to get good starts, though the first moto was a bit tricky—I lost a couple of spots on the first lap and couldn’t quite reach the podium. I knew I had to be better in race two, so I pushed early, got into third, and settled into a good flow. I passed Gifting for the lead and focused on riding clean and smart. I knew Tim was close, but I felt in control. This is one of the toughest tracks on the calendar, so to win here shows we’re on the right track."
